Reiki has brought me many gifts over the years since I completed my first degree class in December 2012 – one of the most important being my meditation practice and lineage. In April of 2022, I finished a two and half year meditation program with The 3 Doors Academy, which is affiliated with Ligmincha International, located in Shipman, VA. My practice carried me through the pandemic. It brought me refuge in a time of great uncertainty; and it also helped me understand that it was time to begin my Reiki Master Training in the Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Tradition with my teacher, Brian Brunius, of New York City Reiki Center.
Brian has always told me over the years that the Master training is a calling that visits us again and again until we are truly ready. I had certainly considered this path at many points since that first class in 2012, but in the summer of 2021, I knew the time had come to begin the two year Reiki master apprenticeship. I was ready to explore the joys and challenges of becoming both a Reiki teacher and mentor to others.
As I assist during classes at NYC Reiki Center, participate in initiating students, and learn more about the beauty and power of Reiki, I change and grow within myself. From the first initiation I received, Reiki has opened a door of self-discovery and understanding – one that I wish to open for others as a teacher. Through my Master training, one of the greatest lessons Reiki has brought me is to learn to consistently show up for myself – in my office, on the meditation cushion, and in my everyday world – regardless of the challenges life brings me. This year, as I enter my second year of master training, I know that Reiki will bring a deeper relationship with myself and those I hold dear in my personal and professional life.
While I have practiced Reiki and seen clients over the past ten years, I decided to formally open Bryn Mawr Reiki Center in 2021, which is the culmination of my dedication to the contemplative arts and Reiki itself, along with my former experience of coaching educators and students for the past decade. In my sessions with clients, I have always seen myself as a facilitator – someone to hold the space, to listen and to support the desired learning and change. This same role holds true as I begin to contemplate teaching classes at Bryn Mawr Reiki Center for people of all ages – I look forward to watching students grow and to developing a Reiki teaching and learning center. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and love to support them in their emotional, spiritual and even academic growth through Reiki. It’s my wish that Bryn Mawr Reiki Center serves the Mainline community and its families.
