August 3, 2024, after six months of training and practice, eight new Certified Reiki Practitioners graduated and were awarded certificates by Brian Brunius and Reiki Centers of America. The Certified Reiki Practitioner training program is for those students who feel called to open a professional Reiki practice. During the program, students receive extensive hands-on training, 200 hours of Reiki practice, and most select business names, build web sites for their new businesses, and make three- and five-year plans for growing their Reiki businesses.
An exciting development this year was that a few of the practitioners had unique trajectories with Reiki. One plans to create a non-profit to offer Reiki to police and other first responders. Another dreams of building an organization to take Reiki treatments and trainings back to his home country. And a third made a goal of offering Reiki treatments though addiction rehab centers. It’s such a joy to watch students develop with Reiki and find their unique paths.
On a hot and humid evening in August we met at the Hotel Hugo rooftop bar and restaurant in SoHo with great lower Manhattan views. We were excited to sit outside, but after the graduation ceremony and photos, summer thundershowers drove us to a table inside the restaurant. Here are some of the photos from the evening taken and edited by Alex Vasquez Leal (Instagram @alecsleal).
